BoffinTalks

Description:
Students are required to make a 15-minute presentation about their research related to the field of data science followed by a 5-minute Q&A. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges.

Registration:
A two-page summary of the research work. The research can be your own recently published work or your unpublished work with significant results and relevant to data science. The summary (PDF file) should be emailed along with your name and student ID number to tbsi_wods@163.com with ‘BoffinTalks: <Your Name>’ as the email subject.

Reward:
The finalists will be recommended to be the recipient of the prestigious TBSI Leaders of Tomorrow Excellence Scholarship (for PhD students) and the Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School Scholarship (for master students). Also, there will be trophies and other prizes for all winners and runner ups.

Scholarship Eligibility:

The scholarship recommendations are limited to Track II (Data Science and Technology) students of TBSI. The total number of scholarship recipients will depend on the scholarship quota of the 2019-2020 academic year.


Night Owl AI Hackathon (NOAH)

Description:
NOAH is the first ever over-night hackathon organized at TBSI. The hackathon would require teams of students to come up with innovative insights regarding the analysis of a dataset that can be chosen from a list of datasets given at the starting hour of the hackathon. NOAH will last for 12 hours from 8:00pm to 8:00am where students will be provided with snacks and drinks and can discuss, code, sleep, eat etc. At 10:00am the next day, make a 10-15 min presentation of their solution to an audience subject to questions. A panel would be present to evaluate and chose the winners based on the innovativeness and relevance of the insights as well as the presentation skills of the team. Come flex your EDA skills and show us as many insights as you can.

Registration:
Teams of size 1-3 students are allowed. Send us an email with ‘NOAH: <Your Team Name>’ as the subject and the name, student number of each team member to tbsi_wods@163.com.
